Haughley Preschool Awarded Top Marks with Outstanding Ofsted Report

The children and staff at Haughley Preschool are celebrating after receiving the news that the Ofsted Inspectors have rated them as Outstanding putting them in the top 10% of nurseries in the country.

At the heart of this incredible success are the dedicated staff at the preschool who have each shown such enthusiasm and commitment to all the children and their individual needs.

Catherine Fuell, deputy preschool leader said "Everybody has worked so hard to achieve this fantastic award. The report means the world to all of us and we hope to retain it for many years to come."

The Ofsted Report found that the "children settle well and flourish at this stimulating and welcoming preschool. Each child individuality is embraced and valued and the committed and competent staff work as a team to care for the children." Overall, the report stated that the setting is Outstanding.

Haughley preschool opened 40 years ago and caters for children from 2 to 5 years old, 5 days a week. The school is a registered charity, which relies heavily on the support of its committee and childrens parents to continue to run. We aim to

  • Provide a consistent facility for pre-school learning in the local community,
  • Provide a caring, happy, safe and secure environment in which the children can learn to interact sociably with others,
  • Enhance the development and education of pre-school children,
  • Involve and work with parents and carers to ensure that individual needs of their child are met, enabling them to work towards the Early Learning Goals (ELGs) for the Foundation stage.

Haughley Pre-School is a registered charity, run by an elected committee of parents and carers. They are responsible for staffing, finance, ensuring matters relating to health and safety are in place, the production and updating of all relevant information and documentation, and complying with registration requirements in accordance with the Children's Act 1989. Regular committee meetings, usually attended by all staff members, ensure that designated roles and responsibilities are being met, that the Pre-School is able to operate in accordance with it's policies, and that ample opportunity for group discussion is available in order to reach joint decisions on policies, provisions and planning.
